目標
本課程為物理系的基礎課程,主要的目標是使學生能掌握
物理所需要的基礎數學工具,著重數學的應用與在物理上
的動機,使學生能進一步掌握如何有效將數學用在物理上。

Examples of the need for mathematical rigor
in physics
- Complex numbers, series and functions
- Linear Algebra:
matrices and determinants,
matrix operations, linear operators,
linear vector space,
eigenvalues, eigenvectors, matrix diagonalization, group theory
- Partial differentiation:
total differential,
implicit differentiation,
maximum and minimum problems,
change of variables
- Vector analysis:
differentiation of vectors,
gradient,
Green’s theorem,
divergence,
curl.
- Fourier series and transforms:
periodic functions,
Fourier series,
Parseval’s theorem,
Fourier transform.
- Ordinary differential equation:
seperable equations, linear first-order equation, second-order
differential equation with constant coefficients
